Ello, this is your captain speaking, my name’s İpek, i’m a painter, illustrator and part-time warlock
I’m graduated from Saint Michel French College and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University painting department. While studying i worked in many different scenes like graphic design, illustration, fashion design, photography and custom doll design. So, i’m trying to use this variety of interests brought by a childish excitement of discovering as a magic wand (wooo) and gather it all in my paintings. Influenced by pop surrealism, street art, lomography, contemporary japanese art, lowbrow artists and illustrators; gathering muses from animes, mangas, bedtime stories, computer games, playgrounds, animals, dreams and nightmares and not being sure of how to finish long sentences like this one, ok i give up.
I took place in many group shows and juried exhibitions, had two solo shows called ” The Milk Room” and “Bedtime Milk” and i won the “Young Painter Of The Year” award in 2008 (woohoo). This way please, if you are interested to learn more about the latest shows i’ve been in.
I’m so deeply and nerdly in love with my computer, his name’s Sebastian and he’s a shy guy…
I have a cat named Chibi Totoro and lots of action figures. My cat hates my action figures, this is why i find a broken arm or wing or a half eaten weapon on the floor so often.
I love old games and arcade, it’s like, i love psp so much but i still have my game gear with me^^
When i was 6, My Little Pony The Movie was my favorite ever…now i’m 26…and i see, nothing has changed…I love ponies, or maybe i’m obsessed with everything with a pony on it. This is Bunnysneeze, say hi Bunnysneeze!
I love to work with acrylics, ecoline, ink and airbrush. I can’t spend a single day without painting, even though my airbrush smells so bad…I listen to Joe Hisaishi, anime musics and old game musics (Sega<3) while working.
Even though i’m too lazy for the whole bathing and etc. process, i love to take pictures with Oktomat. He’s my eight eyed monster friend and he lives under my bed. I don’t know why but my dog Kömköm really fears Lomos! She runs away as fast as she can when she sees me coming to take his pictures with a Lomo. I’m not sure but this can be her attitude against lomography.
I love my studio, it’s a sweet little place with lots of fat kitties around. All i need is a carousel horse and an arcade machine (street fighter 2 would be great) and it’ll be heaven.
I love Takeshi Murakami, he’s one of my favorite artists.
